Talcott Financial Group Announces $10B Block Reinsurance Transaction with MetLife |
HARTFORD, Conn., April 30, 2025 鈥� Talcott Financial Group (鈥淭alcott鈥�), an international life insurance group and leading provider of comprehensive risk solutions, today announced a block reinsurance transaction between its subsidiary, 色中色 (鈥溕猩��), and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (鈥淢etLife鈥�). |
Under the terms of the agreement, 色中色 will reinsure approximately $10 billion in variable annuity and rider reserves, with the transaction structured on both a modified coinsurance and funds withheld basis. MetLife will continue to administer and service the policies. Additionally, MetLife Investment Management will manage approximately $6 billion of assets under investment management agreements with Talcott. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. |

This transaction, which follows the block reinsurance transaction with that Talcott announced in March, brings total reinsured reserves in 2025 to $14 billion, and further demonstrates Talcott鈥檚 position as a trusted partner for effective, bespoke risk management solutions. |
